Dieng has combination of so many landscapes that you can keep visiting again & again and will find something new. The story here I want to share is about Gunung Sikunir - people say you get to see the magical golden sun-rise from the top.
Anyways we started hiking up at 3 AM, and it was also very cold. Overall the hike wasn't that difficult, just that my gym shoes kept slipping because of the wet mud - reminder to buy proper hiking/outdoor shoes. Anyways me along with some friends went all the way to the top, only to find the beautiful view filled with morning haze and dark clouds. The sun did show up but hidden by the clouds.
After the sunrise was over, went hike down to the base. Ok, going up to Gunung Sikunir, was not so great in terms of "landscape photog" but you know what, I felt good after hiking 2000'ish meters. And I think I will hike more mountains/hills like that. The feeling is you've achieved something / overcome obstacles and feel motivated.
