Firstly I would like to say loud and clear, that my wife is super awesome! Why..read on and you'll figure it out.
After coming back from SG, getting the wide angle zoom lens I was just craving for photo ops. Around that time i was searching for photo hunting tours @ fotografer.net. I stumbled upon this photography tour to Belitung, which was actually the location I had in mind. I talked to my wife and she was so supportive of this and immediately said go for it!
I contacted the organisers, made the payment and took a day off from office. We met up early at the airport and I was pleased to see all participants were really nice people, some very experienced photographers themselves. It was a 3 days trip starting on Friday and ending on Sunday. During the trip, made many friends, cracked many jokes and made Pakistan famous in Belitung.
Day 1 : After arriving at Belitung, we started by visiting this lake on our way to SD Muhammdiyah. After taking pictures of the replica school, we visited the museum and had the best coffee ever! After that we continued and went for Mee Belitung for lunch (super yumsieee). Finally we checked in and then went out for sunset at Laskar Pelangi beach and then dinner.

Day 2 : We started very early at 4 AM heading to the jetty spot for our island tour. Our first stop was the Batu Berlayar Island. The sunrise had already occurred, but the moon was still visible and it was simply a very magical sight. After that we headed to Lengkuas Island, where we visited the famous Lighthouse built by the Dutch in 1800's. I climbed all the way up to the Lighthouse, and the view was just amazing. Imagine a 360 panorama of ocean and small islands. After returning from the Lighthouse, we had fresh coconut water for refreshments and were then headed for another island called Pulau Burung (Bird Island). On our way, it started raining heavily and was also very windy. For me it was a very nice experience : it got cold, drenched in rain and on a boat! We couldn't visit the island, but from afar there was a large stone in the shape of an eagle's head, hence the name. We returned to Belitung mainland for lunch and then back to hotel.

Day 2 : Still on day 2, we headed later in the afternoon to Bugis fishermen village with mainly human interest in mind. It was such an insightful experience, visiting this village and seeing how these people work, live and play. Their lifestyle, environment and work is so different to us living in the city. I really enjoyed taking pictures here, and didn't realise that I was the only one left still roaming around, while all other participants were back in the coach.
Day 3 : This was the final day of our tour and around 11 o clock was our flight back to Jakarta. We started the day by visiting Kao Lin Lake for sunrise. After the sunrise, we visited a famous bridge in Belitung and also a ship making yard. After that, we went back to our hotel, got ready for airport and headed back to Jakarta.
