Visiting Yogyakarta - Part 2

Sometime earlier, you would have noticed I had a post called Yogyakarta Part 1. Well, I had planned to visit Yogyakarta again in a month's time so decided to do part 2 of my Yogyakarta series. After finishing my work, I decided to visit other parts of Yogyakarta - more like a day trip.

This time I hired a personal driver, and with no specific list of places to visit, I decided to venture to areas I didn't manage to attend in my previous visit.

We started the tour early morning by visiting a Pine forest in the outskirt of Yogyakarta - I am not sure of the area but it was near this place called Omigiri. While the drive took almost an hour, the driver was telling me so many interesting stories of the place - which made the journey fairly entertaining.

After Pine forest, I headed to the city centre / main attraction of Yogyakarta called Jalan Malioboro. This is basically a long stretch of shops & markets situated in the heart of the city which leads to the Dutch colonial area. The street was full of vibrant colors, shops and horse carts which makes the place very interesting.

After taking some photos of the street, I decided to visit Taman Sari - basically a park/building structure built by emperor of Yogyakarta back in the day. It was pretty cool visiting the rooms and experiencing what it would have been like hundreds of years ago.

I ended the trip at Taman Sari and then it was back to the hotel for my flight next day in the morning. That's pretty much of what happened in Yogyakarta and enjoy the photos below:
